Lesson 1: Introducing the Left Hand to Your Lyre Playing

In this introductory lesson, we will elevate your lyre playing by teaching you how to incorporate both hands. You’ll explore the basics of two-handed playing with step-by-step instructions, setting a solid foundation for the rest of the course.

Lesson 2: Getting Comfortable with Two-Handed Playing

Building on the previous lesson, this session will help you get comfortable using both hands, focusing on finger placement and stability. We’ll practice exercises that will develop your dexterity and confidence in playing with two hands.

Lesson 3: Learn How to Play an Ancient Melody

This lesson covers one of the ancient Greek melodies that have survived to the present day, taught step-by-step in 6/8 rhythm. You will also receive tablature and sheet music to guide you through this historical tune.

Lesson 4: Learn How to Play Using Arpeggios

In this lesson, you will explore the beautiful technique of arpeggios. You’ll learn how to apply this technique on the lyre, understanding its flow and sound. Arpeggios are a great way to add richness and complexity to your lyre playing.

Lesson 5: Learn How to Play “Who Pays the Ferryman”

In this session, we’ll combine everything you’ve learned so far to tackle the famous theme song “Who Pays the Ferryman,” originally composed by Yiannis Markopoulos for the 1977 BBC TV series. You’ll master the melody and technique behind this iconic tune.

Lesson 6: Harmonics on a Lyre

Lesson 7: Learn How to Play “Happy Birthday”

Prepare for your first live performance! In this lesson, you will learn how to play “Happy Birthday” with both hands, and we will introduce an important harmonic note to make your performance even more special.

Lesson 8: Learn How to Play “O Pastor”
